THIS WAS A CURBSIDE FIND IN THE SUMMER OF 2005, IN GROVE CITY, OH. I WAS GOING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND SAW THIS ON THE CURB. NATURALLY, I GRABBED IT. ON INITIAL CHECK, THE CRT HAD ALMOST NO EMISSION, BUT IT CAME UP AFTER A LONG COOK. I SOFT STARTED THIS AND ENDED UP GETTING A PICTURE.
THE ELECTROLYTICS DID NOT REFORM TO MY SATISFACTION. SEVERAL TUBES HAD HEATER/CATHODE LEAKAGE, AND WERE REPLACED. FOR A WHILE, I USED THIS AS MY DAILY WATCHER.
CHASSIS AFTER RECAPPING. THE NEW LYTICS WERE HIDDEN UNDERNEATH AND THE OLD CANS DISCONNECTED. IF I HAD IT TO DO OVER, I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE LYTICS FROM A DIFFERENT SUPPLIER, ONE THAT HAD ONES SMALL ENOUGH TO FIT IN THE CANS. THE CLEAR PLASTIC MYLAR CAPS WERE ALSO REPLACED. I BELIEVE I HAD SHOTS BEFORE RECAPPING, BUT I THINK THEY MAY BE LOST.
SHOT OF THE SET AFTER FIRST POWERUP BEFORE RECAPPING.
SHOT AFTER REMOVING THE CATARACT FROM THE CRT.
I DID A SECOND SOFT START AFTER RECAPPING, THIS TIME ON THE TEST RIG. THE PICTURE HAD SEVERE GHOSTING. BOTH TUBES ON THE TUNER HAD SEVERE HEATER/CATHODE LEAKAGE AND WERE REPLACED. THE GHOSTING WAS LATER DETERMINED TO BE A BAD DELAY LINE.
I DID GET AN OVERALL DECENT PIC ON THE RIG, BUT NOT ON THE SET'S OWN TUBE. I LATER CONFIRMED THE TUBE WAS GETTING GASSY. I BEGAN LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE NEXT PICS SHOW HOW BAD THE CRT WAS GETTING.
