I SCORED THIS AT THE FIRST EARLY TELEVISION FOUNDATION CONVENTION IN 2002. I RESTORED THIS IN THE FALL OF THAT YEAR. THIS WAS A FAIRLY EASY RESTORATION. THE VIDCAPS SHOWN HERE ARE THE ONLY RECORD OF THIS RESTORATION SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA AT THE TIME. EVENTUALLY, I WILL GET BETTER AFTER SHOTS.
HERE IS THE SIDE VIEW OF THE CHASSIS. THIS USES THE METAL 16GP4 CRT. IT HAS PROTECTIVE PLASTIC ON THE BELL. TO THE LEFT AT THE FRONT OF THE CRT IS A MALLORY INDUCTUNER. IT IS A CONTINUOUS TUNER (LIKE EARLY UHF). BETWEEN CHANNELS 6 AND 7, IT HAS THE FM BAND. THERE IS ALSO A JACK FOR A PHONO. THIS SET IS ALMOST A COMPLETE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER.
CHASSIS BEFORE RECAPPING. IT'S HARD TO SEE HERE, BUT THIS THING WAS LOADED WITH WAX PAPER CAPS. I REPLACED ONE ELECTROLYTIC. THE OTHERS WERE EITHER STILL GOOD OR REFORMED ENOUGH WHEN I SOFT STARTED IT. GOOD LYTICS IN SET THIS OLD IS RARE. THEN AGAIN, THEY MAY HAVE BEEN REPLACED PREVIOUSLY.
CHASSIS AFTER RECAPPING. I WILL EVENTUALLY GET A BETTER SHOT OF THIS. I ALSO ADDED FUSES TO THE B+ LINES AFTER THE 5U4 AND 6AX5 RECTIFIERS. IF A LYTIC CRAPS OUT, IT'LL BLOW THE FUSE INSTEAD OF WIPING OUT THE POWER TRANSFORMER.
