THIS WAS A 2009 SCORE. I GOT THIS IN EXCHANGE FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR WHEN I DISCOVERED A CRITICAL COMPONENT BAD.
BECAUSE OF THIS, I DO NOT HAVE ANY SHOTS BEFORE RECAPPING.
THESE GE SETS ARE SIMILAR TO THE LOCOMOTIVE SETS. THESE ARE NOT EASY TO RESTORE. IF YOU ARE RESTORING A TV FOR THE FIRST TIME, I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THESE SETS.
THERE IS A B- GROUND AS WELL AS CHASSIS GROUND. A RESISTOR CONNECTS FROM B- TO CHASSIS. MANY OF THE CAPS ARE HARD TO GET TO. THE ELECTROLYTIC CANS MAY BE TOO SMALL TO RESTUFF. THE HOT CHASSIS DESIGN IS SWITCH TO NEUTRAL, IN THIS CASE, B-. THE HOT CHASSIS FIX MUST BE DONE TO B-, NOT CHASSIS GROUND.
IN 2010, I FOUND A JUNKER CHASSIS WHICH NETTED ME THE HORIZONTAL OSCILLATOR COIL I NEEDED. ONCE I GOT HIGH VOLTAGE, I HAD OTHER ISSUES.
THE VERTICAL HOLD WOULD NOT STAY LOCKED. A HUMBAR DEVELOPED AFTER THE SET WARMED UP. ALL LYTICS HAD BEEN REPLACED AND GROUNDED TO B-. I STARTED CHECKING TUBES. TWO OF THE VIDEO IF TUBES HAD SEVERE LEAKAGE. REPLACING THEM FIXED BOTH ISSUES.
AS I RECAPPED THIS, I HAD TO MAKE HOOK SPLICE CONNECTIONS SINCE THE CHASSIS WAS CLUTTERED. THE SHOTS OF WHAT THESE LOOK LIKE BEFORE RECAPPING IS THE JUNK CHASSIS.
