I SCORED THIS THROUGH A LISTING IN THE EARLY TELEVISION MUSEUM CLASSIFIEDS.  IT WAS ON THE NORTH END OF COLUMBUS.  THIS WAS IN 2005.

THIS IS ONE OF A FEW BLOND SETS I HAVE.  IT IS IN OVERALL GOOD CONDITION.  IT ALSO HAD THE INSTRUCTION BOOK AND A FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL.  THE LEGS WERE REMOVED WHEN I GOT IT.  PHILCO DID NOT INTEND FOR THIS TO BE USED AS A TABLETOP.

THE CRT CHECKED GOOD IMMEDIATELY.  WHEN I SOFT STARTED IT, THE ELECTROLYTIC CAN WAS HOT AT 80 VOLTS, SO I ABORTED.  THIS HAS BEEN RECAPPED.  THERE WAS A PROBLEM COMMON TO THESE WHICH I WILL GET TO LATER.

THIS IS A PREDICTA ERA PHILCO.  IF YOU ARE RESTORING A TV FOR THE FIRST TIME, SAVE THIS FOR ANOTHER TIME.  THESE ARE NOT FOR THE BEGINNER.  YOU WILL SEE WHY.

FIRST UP, THE TOP BEFORE ANY RESTORATION.  THE SWEEP BOARD CANNOT BE EASILY REMOVED, BUT IT CAN BE RAISED JUST ENOUGH TO RECAP.

BEFORE I ABORTED THE SOFT START, THE SET WAS RECEIVING STATIONS.  BETWEEN THE FACTORY SCHEMATIC, TELLAIDES AND SAMS, I SHOULD HAVE LITTLE DIFFICULTY GETTING THIS WORKING.

THE NEXT PIC REVEALS THE HORRORS OF PREDICTA ERA PHILCO.

YOU WILL NEED TO EITHER REMOVE THE SWEEP BOARD OR RAISE IT.  WHEN I DID THE RECAP. I RAISED IT JUST ENOUGH.  IF YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE THE BOARD, BE SURE TO MARK EVERY WIRE AND CAREFULLY NOTE WHERE IT GOES.  WHEN I RESTORE A PREDICTA, I ONLY DISCONNECT THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF WIRES TO DO WHAT I NEED TO DO.  NEXT SHOT IS THE CABINET AFTER CLEANUP.
